Brad Bryant, Paul Hinsdale & Josh Bryant - Bryant's RV Showcase

Brad Bryant, Paul Hinsdale and Josh Bryant have built a solid family-owned dealership with a commitment to serving their customers.

Brad Bryant is great ambassador for RVing.

“It’s a great lifestyle,” he says. “You’re selling a product that people don’t have to have. So you’re getting people involved in something they can enjoy the rest of their life. It’s great to sell a product that people want and that they are going to enjoy.”

Bryant’s love of RVing began when he joined his wife Diane’s family on an RVing trip to a local campground. He says he fell in love with the lifestyle and he’s been camping ever since.

After selling park models for many years, he and Diane opened an RV service business in 1987 on a property near his father’s mobile home sales business. They eventually outgrew the service location and in 1996 they moved to the current dealership at 4255 Memorial Highway in Dallastown, Pennsylvania.

Bryant’s RV Showcase began by selling Corsair travel trailers and today offers new and pre-owned Jayco and Coachman travel trailers and 5th wheels. The dealership consists of three service bays, a parts store and sales offices on four acres of land. They have six people on staff, including Paul Hinsdale, Bryant’s son-in-law, and Josh Bryant, his brother, who has been with the business for 30 years.

As the small dealers continue to be purchased by large national dealers, Bryant says they can offer something that they don’t offer. That’s the relationship the family dealership can have with the customer. He says if they stay local it’s so much easier to service the RV.

“We’re family operated and we give that feeling to the customers,” he says. “We spend more time with the customer. When we do a pre-delivery inspection, we actually go through the units thoroughly. It’s something that the mega dealers don’t do.”

He’s also committed to continuing education and making sure his dealership provides great service.

Bryant got involved with the Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle and Camping Association (PRVCA) at the urging of his friend Paul Wieand, former owner of WT Family Camping.

“It was one of the best decisions I ever made,” Bryant says. “When you develop relationships with the dealers it creates a camaraderie, and I feel better competition. You’re not only working with dealers, but also manufacturer reps, bank reps and insurance reps, so you’re getting a wide range of exposure and friendships, and it helps you develop your career.”

He joined the PRVCA board in 1999 and served on committees, including chairman of the education committee. The board recognized his volunteerism through the years, naming him 2021“Volunteer of the Year.”

Bryant helped spearhead PRVCA’s education efforts for many years. He’s proud of the work and foundation he and other board members created at the association.

“PRVCA benefits the dealers in so many ways,” he says. “Legislation is a real benefit, but I felt my contribution was in education. The education is the biggest differentiation with a dealer in that you have to be a member to benefit from it. RVs are so sophisticated these days. Education is so important. We developed that education department and it’s come a long way. I think it is contributing to the industry wholeheartedly.”

During the August board meeting, Bryant announced he will retire from the PRVCA board when his term ends this month. It follows his retirement as president of Bryant’s RV Showcase three years ago.

After talking years ago with his son and daughter, he decided his son-in-law would be the person to take over the operation when he retired. Hinsdale joined the company more than 20 years ago and learned the business from the ground up from the shop, store and sales to working with the manufacturer.

As planned, he took over the operation three years ago. Bryant says the succession plan worked out well with the added bonus of keeping the dealership in the family.

“Stress can get to you at times,” he says. “When you have good people working for you, and you know there is a time that you can back out, you do it.”

He and Diane decided they want to travel more. They purchased a Jayco Northpoint 5th wheel and have already been enjoying trips to Florida, Colorado and Tennessee.

“This country has so much to offer,” he says. “I love to see what’s around the next corner.”

RVing continues to be a great business and lifestyle for the Bryant family. They took their son and daughter RVing through the years and eventually their grandchildren joined them.

“In my opinion there’s no better way to raise a family than to get them out camping,” he says. “You’re getting your kids out there where they can be in the outdoors. You encourage them to leave their electronics at home so you can develop that family time. It’s great whether you’re getting into the business or getting into the RV lifestyle.”
